One of the biggest updates for FIFA 18 comes at the end of May 2018. The update is called World Cup Russia. Players will be able to enjoy new ways to play the game and rediscover old modes with refreshed content. The update is connected to a real football event. The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held in Russia. The in game event features the same teams as the real competition. The event will start in June, roughly two weeks after the update.
Players have the opportunity to take part in the event with a team of their choice. There are 32 countries that will be taking part in the famous tournament. Each one is available as a playable team. The real tournament and the in-game one have the same structure so players will be able to follow what goes on in the real event. The tournament starts with group stages and culminates with the final game that will be played in the Russian capital, Moscow. The in game World Cup can be personalized in any way players want. The in game winner doesn't need to be the same as in the real cup. Any team from the national team listing can be chosen to participate in the tournament. A customized draw can be created. The FIFA 18 World Cup is played alone or with others.
Ultimate Team mode benefits from the update. Teams with players from any of the 32 competing teams can be built. The available players have new ratings to reflect their most recent performance. There are also World Cup Icon players. A new set of World Cup related Icons will be introduced. A chemistry system is part of the team building mechanics. Players' attributes might also change depending on what goes on in the real event. The teams are used for activities such as tournaments (single and multiplayer), draft (also single and multiplayer), and squad building challenges. World Cup UT packs and fut 18 coins are available to buy. If players acquire a standard or premium pack of this type they will also get a bonus for UT.
